Human behavior generally falls into predictable patterns. This is because most of our lives are spent in reaching or responding to stimuli. Reactions and responses therefore, become involuntary and are dominated by our emotions. The nature of these responses and reactions are very individualistic and vary from person to person.
In the presence of our near and dear ones, these responses and reactions are spontaneous, unguarded and expressive . In the more formal surroundings, these same responses and reactions are masked behind a façade. This is because we wish to hide our true emotions behind a façade of efficiency.
We at Search Consultants-HRD create an awareness of self and the nature of our impact on other people, the organisation and the task in hand by means of a process called " Experiential Learning" through Outward Bound Training; generally conducted away from the corporate workspace. As a tool it is now seen as a powerful intervention available to the induction and breaking in of untrained novices detachment, poor work ethics, unionization, lack of motivation, lack of concern for quality or client, doing the legal minimum internal politics , lack of coordination between various departments.
Experiential learning is based on a concept called the " Action Leaning Cycle" as innovated by "David Kolb"
The participants are given specific tasks designed to simulate their work space environment. Their actions thereafter are closely monitored and results recorded. Through expert intervention by specially trained facilitators the various dynamics both individual and collective that were displayed during the execution of tasks are scrutinized and discussed along with their impacts or the final outcome of the task . The activity is purely contextual. The learnings that it throws up are then related to their own work space in their respective organisations.
In this way, by executing a task in a " No Consequence and " fun" environment, this form of learning provides invaluable experience that participants can relate to and recall effortlessly when the need arises. This serves to leave a positive and lasting impact on all aspects of their lives, be it his work , family or social environment.
